“As a child the skirt’s velvet was soft on her skin. The wool lightly scratched her cheeks, making her laugh. It was a party dress that belonged to a special person. She still remembers how she held hands tightly with her mother, whose back was caressed with those soft velvet flowers.”
Thirty years later, in her new city apartment on the other side of the sea, she realizes she has brought the skirt with her, as a reminder of days spent together. It’s a reminder of a bond with her family and her home far away.
When we met, she had brought the skirt with her, her Object of Connection. As soon as it was taken out of the bag, she set it on her knee, stroked the folds and began to share the details of it.
As it turns out, the skirt was full of memories. During our meeting, on that autumn afternoon, from both the tone of her voice and the feelings that the piece of clothing evoked, I could gather all the information necessary to create her object of Identity Craft. Today this objectenriches her home.
Brocados is her name.
A small armchair, that resembles a woman dressed for a party, her arms outstretched as she gathers the hem of her skirt, as if bowing.
This is the object of Identity Craft that contains in it pieces of her story, parts of her identity.

Brocados, the work of Identity Craft that Fatima designed and created for me is not just an object of design, but a profound mirror, able to restore fragments of memory with a new light.
Thanks to the mastery of Fatima in listening and in the translation of emotions into a work of art, Brocados evokes images, words and splendor in a harmonious way. The piece interweaves memories from my childhood with my ever-evolving self. For me, Identity Craft is an act of profound understanding of the identity that inhabits my emotional space. It now also has a place in my living room.
Thank you, Fatima.
