They come from opposite parts of the world, and are recently married. They are in a new house, yet the trunk is a part of their story. It already has its proper place in their lives. Sentimentally they recount the many trips the trunk has made throughout the decades, through time and space until it made its appearance in their lives.
They recognized this as their Object of Connection that unites them, and to which they feel they belong, together. I listened to their story and the metaphor of the trunk as a mountain in their lives. Its solidity serves as both a stage and guardian for their them.
I thus created a multifaceted object, that in its symbolic elements contains and embraces two lives. It was almost as if the contents of their lives were already engraved within it. Entrelaços is its name, a fabric that both connects and encircles their bond. Their lives are linked via this red thread that embraces the whole of their connection, just as another thread once embraced an entire mountain.
